Health promotion

While community health centres offer a range of services they also emphasise the prevention of illness through health promotion.

Health promotion is the process of enabling people to increase control over the determinants of their health, thereby improving it. Health promotion activities include:

  • creating supportive environments
  • strengthening communities
  • assisting people to develop personal skills and health-related knowledge

Health Promotion improves the health and wellbeing of the whole community and prevents illness. All of our staff and programs are involved in planning and delivering health promotion.

Our health promotion plan can be seen here.
