Youth Outreach Nurse

Also known as: Youth Worker, Youth Health Nurse, Youth Support Service, IHSHY, Young People's Outreach

Our youth worker can meet with you at a cafe, at school, or at home to talk about whatever you might need assistance with such as:

  • accessing a housing service
  • accessing medical services, such as a supported referral to a GP and/or dentist
  • looking into education and employment opportunities
  • referrals to a dietitian
  • referrals to a counsellor
  • accessing help for drug and alcohol issues
  • having a chat about feeling down or stressed out
  • sorting out Centrelink options
  • talking about contraception and sexual health

Or if you just want to catch up with someone to talk about what's been going on, that's fine too.

This service is aimed at...

  • People at risk of homelessness
  • People in the Port Phillip and Stonnington areas
  • People who are homeless
  • People who are marginalised
  • People who have difficulty accessing health services
  • Young people aged between 12 and 25 years

Do the sentences below describe you? If so, we can help.

  • I need to talk to someone.
  • I've got no where to stay and no money.

The outreach worker was really easy to talk to. We met in a cafe and she bought me a coffee. I never knew how much was out there to help me get by.
